Mama Knows Best

As soon as I got pregnant, these maternal instincts kicked in full force and I wasn't sure what was going on with me. Besides the not so fun things related to being pregnant, like the smell of onions making me want to waddle a mile away. Or sometimes eggs making me want to scream in terror, there was the unexplainable. Why and how in the world can I go from complete hysterical laughter to hysterical crying in a matter of seconds. Why am I bleaching the baseboards of my entire house and cleaning things that I would have never cleaned in my life?! I'll be the first to say I keep a tidy house, but I am not a OCD neat freak! Then those hormones kick in and some strange force of unexplainable nature takes over your body!

Well, now I'm a mom and I just know when something is wrong with my little bambino. Whether it is a simple cold, he's absolutley worn out, or by God, it's going to be one of those days. You already know when you get the kid up in the morning and wonder if noon is too early to have a glass of wine. Italians do it...right!?! This past weekend, I was out of town and Davis was with Michael all weekend long. My poor child has been back and forth lately from hotel and house, so I think it's been taking a toll on him. I immediately noticed right when I walked in the door that Davis wasn't looking too well. My child is beyond hyper active, won't sit still for a minute, and needs constant stimulation. So when I walk in, he is just laying on the couch, rubbing his eyes. Granted is was his nap time, but he was laying. Still! On the couch!! Is that MY child? Surely there is something wrong with him. He felt warm! No, no. Michael said it was because the house was just warm. I'm a mom and I so over react! Well, not this time my friend. 103.8 temperature nearly sent me over the edge! If you ask me, that is pretty high. My poor little guy wouldn't even take a nap. He fell asleep on my chest and was crying in his sleep. I felt so bad for him it made me tear up a little bit. And for Davis to actually fall asleep anywhere but his bed is very unlike him! Even though he wasn't feeling well, I bottled that day up and actually took advantage of my little man being sick. I know, sounds very weird I'm sure. I don't have a cuddler by any means.

Well, tonight I have a trunk show and wouldn't you know I have no one to watch Davis. With Michael being in another city now and not exactly knowing many people here, that somewhat poses as a problem. My friend is sick, so what to do. Images of Davis climbing my body while I'm trying to work are flying through my head. Not to leave out that it will be his dinner time. Oh, excuse me ladies while I make myself at home in your kitchen and fix my son dinner. Thank you. I'm sure everything will work out just fine and I just need to breathe. Until then, I do know of someone I could call! If you've been reading my blog, you've seen this picture before. They seem trustworthy, right?!

14 Months...Already?

If I have said it once-well, it sure won't be the last time. Davis is 14 months today and I still can't believe. And I still have yet to go get his one year pictures done. I am so behind!! The past week or so (okay, longer!) I have been in major denial and trying to carry Davis sometimes like he's a newborn. Yesterday he had his sippy cup and I was trying to cradle him in my arms with his huge long legs kicking me in my side. Michael calls Davis a man child now! Here are a few updates: Eating-what does this child NOT eat is the question. He went straight from eating pureed food to eating steak! So far, he is not a picky eater. He even like brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Sleeping-Davis is still taking two-two hour naps during the day and sleeping 12 to 12.5 hours at night. That child is all over the crib. I think we will be taking the side down a little later than normal for most people. He jumps so high in there, I think he is going to hurdle himself out! Independant time-still pretty nonexsistent! If Davis leaves the room and goes to play, all is good. If I try to leave him in the room, all hell breaks loose. This is something we are still working on. He is striving to learn so much and I can just see it makes him so happy! He wants to 'read' books all of the time. It's absolutley adorable. And he still wants to be outside all of the time. I could just leave him there all day in the sandbox and he would be good to go! Here is a little video of him not only jumping in MY bed, but some of the things he has been learning lately!

Memories....At The Corners Of My Mind!

I saw these pictures today and had to share them. I am still amazed at how big my little man is getting! It's exciting, yet so sad to me all at the same time. I almost can't remember him being this little anymore and it wasn't even that long ago. Tear, tear. Sniffle, sniffle.

Can we just press pause for a little bit? I just want to keep him just the way he is. I love you, Davis!!

Sweet Home, Chicago!!

Okay, no. I'm not from Chicago, but Michael is from right outside there and I was so excited that we just got to go visit! We had the BEST time! It was a jammed packed long weekend and I enjoyed every minute of it. We went in to see friends, have a trunk show, and went out for our ANNIVERSARY!! And don't forget the shopping at H&M...my most favorite store ever! (Can someone please tell me why Chicago can have 7stores and there is 0 in my location? But they torment me by showing commercials all the time. NO FAIR!)

Davis was beyond excellent on the plane ride that I almost wondered if someone had sedated the child! I have no idea how that happened, but I didn't argue it. He also got to meet several of his cousins, which were all girls, so he enjoyed himself pretty well! His flirting skills are in full force right now. He even smacked a flight attendant on the butt while we were on the plane. I told her to please excuse my husband's hands.

Anniversary night was the best night ever! We stayed at the Palmer House, and if you have ever been there, you know it is so gorgeous. Being the oldest hotel in Chicago, all of the art and architecture is exquisite!

This picture was taken right before a completely plastered woman fell into my hair telling me that it smelled so good. We had some interesting moments, but that made it that much more fun! haha :)

Michael even made a new friend on the street!!
They got pretty close that they held hands. I know. So sweet, huh!?

Well, that's my past week in a nutshell! We had such an amazing time. I am so beyond blessed to have such a wonderful and loving husband. We always have the best time together!! Thank you to my best friend!! Happy anniversary, with many more to come!
