My Life In Limbo

This week, for TTUT, I thought I would fill you in on what's been going on with us little family. I know you may be thinking, isn't that what I normally do on here every week? Well, yeah, but that's beside the point. Since it's not "official" yet, I thought I would keep my mouth shut. But seeing as how that is beyond hard for me, I'm caving and filling you in.

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know we have been like a group of gypsies, moving. A lot. Moving too much. MOVING! AHHHHH!!!!!!!! Last January, we moved to the suburbs of Dallas from East Texas. Our whole goal while living in E. Tx was to get back to Dallas, to be close to my family. Especially with having Davis, we really wanted to be near them again. Isn't that weird?? We actually WANT to live close to my family. Shhh....don't tell them. They will get a big head. I was so excited to be there again. I was able to reconnect with my friends more, which was AWESOME! They got to be around my crazy self again! Who doesn't like some crazy :) Well, living back in Dallas was short lived. 7 months, too short lived! We packed it up and moved to Tulsa. I was beyond devastated and was ready to throw in the white towel. But seeing as how I'm extremely awesome, I took Tulsa like a force to be reckoned with. I joined groups, had a gym in two days, and started a clientele for my business. FYI, don't do a groupon if you have a mobile business. It was stupid. Stupid, I say. Needless to say, the unthinkable happened. I fell in love with Tulsa. Check your pulse. There is so much to do here, whether as a family, or just Michael and I. We have done so much more here, than we ever did in Dallas. Plus, we found an amazing sitter company, Seeking Sitters (check into it....seriously!) so date nights have been in full force! Davis has also been going to a phenomenal school, which he loves, and I work those two days. It has been so wonderful.  We also started building a house, and we CAN'T WAIT to get out of this apartment. Being in a small apartment with two adults, an 80 pound dog, a crazy two year old, and a slew of toys has been a challenge. I've met some really great people, one of which has become my best friend. (By the way, Brooke is a new blogger, so I think you should go say hi. Go here.)

I bet you're thinking that you're just so glad everything is hunky dory here in Tulsa and we have found the place to finally settle down. Um...no. Back to the life that is a gypsy, and it looks like are next move is on the horizon. Next stop, Houston. I know, I know. I would absolutely love to get some place and stay there. Sheesh! Trust me! The company that Michael started working for here in Tulsa, is being bought out and moving everyone to Houston. So, since before Christmas, we have literally been playing the waiting game. I have to say, I'm over it and beyond aggravated. I'm ready to rip this band aid off, and get on with it. We immediately called the builders and put that whole process on hold. If you guessed they are pissed, you guessed right. It has now been well over a month, and we know just as much as we did then. And the builders are still pissed! So are we coming or going? Building our house? Renewing our lease on the apartment? Looking for homes in Houston? Do I continue to build my clientele? Network? Put it on hold?  Do I get my head shaved? (Just seeing if you were still with me!)

Tomorrow is the big day that we have been waiting for. Michael just left to catch a flight to Houston, to have a meeting tomorrow and see what they offer him. I said that if we have to move, they should just give Michael at least a $30k raise, but Michael didn't think they would like that too much. A girl can dream, people! But still, now more questions. Are we getting reimbursed for the building of the house and the loss? Are we getting the moving package? $30k raise? haha! More importantly, do I get a private jet?! And should I shave my head?

Phew! That was a load off! I figured if I didn't write it down, then how will you ever properly stalk my blog, and know what is really going on! But truly, I like to look back on my posts and see what was going on at the time. So, to wrap this sucker up, I will for sure keep you posted on my life in limbo.

FYI, moving to Houston now would actually be a good thing. If we don't go now, we would HAVE to move within two years, when the entire company has to be relocated. Meaning, we would have built our house, then have to move -OR- Michael would have to find a new job at that point. I say, let's do this thang and get it over with! I'm ready to take over Houston!!!!

Monday, How We Meet Again

I have to say, this week (until Wednesday) is going to be a long, anxious filled week. I have some news I've been keeping in, but have been holding out. Sooo.....I'll post about it tomorrow. Are you going to be pulling your hair out until then? At least go buy a wig.

Like most weeks, we are pretty busy with lots of things to do. Which I love! I am that person, if my schedule isn't filled, I don't do too well. It actually makes me lazy. Maybe I'm best under pressure and a time crunch. I have many mobile tans booked this week, and am very excited about that. I absolutely love my work! Yes, LOOVVE it! I love helping people look and feel their best, and that in return makes me feel wonderful. This week, I also need to order business cards and fliers from Jenn Sprinkle. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Spray Tan Camp, and she is so talented. And prices are amazing! I also need to check into Spa Booker, gift cards, insurance....phew. And review my 50 pages of notes from camp. I'm ready to get settled and take over. LET'S DO THIS!!!
This week on my list, is take Davis to a bakery. I know you're thinking, okay, that doesn't seem that important, or that big of a deal. Well, for us, going to a bakery is a big deal. A fun thing. A reward! Davis has been to a bakery only a few times, and felt so important and special. His little face lit up when he got to pick out his cupcake and was so excited. If you're still sitting there thinking I have a third eye, it's okay, we get this often. We only have sweets in the house every once in a blue moon, and never order dessert. AND Davis doesn't care for sweets too much, so we got lucky there. Taking him to get a cupcake, to me, creates a sweet little memory. Of course I'll have to take a picture, because he won't remember it!

I hope your week is filled with sunshine and is wonderful! And maybe I'll get to mark some things off my to-do list!

One more thing, I have the most amazing review/giveaway coming up.....for WEIGHT LOSS!! Did your eyes get big?? So, you better stay tuned!

The Civil Wars-DATE NIGHT!

Last week, I had such an amazing date night. Quiet dinner to start, just the two of us. Did you read that? Quiet!! Which of course if you have toddlers, you know having this is a rare thing to have a quiet dinner or have food thrown across the table. We also had tickets to see The Civil Wars, which I was so beyond excited about. Like waaaaaaaaaaaaay excited!

I have to add in that dinner with my husband and I can be interesting. We talk the entire time, about anything and everything. Especially if you are sitting by a big hungry vagina staring at you on the wall.
Yes, that's right. Michael thought this looked like a big hungry vagina, and was going to eat him whole. If only I could be in his mind for maybe 30 minutes, I could see how that crazy thing worked. Needless to say, I nearly had wine coming out of my nose, staring at what was actually a giant artichoke.

After our very delicious, and ever so entertaining meal, we headed on to Cain's Ballroom. If you are from Tulsa, you know that Cain's is a staple here. Most big performances that come through, play there. It. Was. Amazing! The evolutions, inventions, and standard set outlines for swing, big band, and rock and roll evolved inside Cain's.

The Civil Wars are best described as a mutt. Why? They are a mix of folk, country, and blue grass. With just two people in the band, and no backup, they travel to bring concert goers like me, a phenomenal show. Acoustic guitar and an occasional piano interlude, bring in hauntingly beautiful music to your ears.  Each song is an intimate conversation, and no third wheels or dinner-party chatter are going to interrupt that gorgeous, haunting hush. In some ways, music doesn't get much more modest or minimalist than it is in the hands of The Civil Wars, a duo comprised of California-to-Nashville transplant Joy Williams and her Alabaman partner, John Paul White.

Our cutest picture of the night, just for you!

You may recognize this song from the radio. By the way, I don't even like country, and I love them!

Hope you've had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Saturday!

Just a little something cute for your weekend!

(I say that to Davis every night, and it's so cute now that he can somewhat say it too!)

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

Chop, Chop. Snip, Snip.

After two and half years of long curly locks, I finally put the scissors to my little man's head. As much as it hurt me, it also pained me to see Davis running around looking like a homeless child. The hair was out of control! Curls were falling in his eyes.
Hair was sticking straight up. I think a bird even made a nest in there! Since I was just trimming it, I figured, who better than to cut his hair than me! I mean, I used to cut my doll's hair, so how hard could this really be! I grabbed the scissors, my homeless looking child, and got to work!

Hey guys? Why does mama have scissors? Wait, why is mama getting close to my head with scissors? This can not be good. Should I be scared??

Wait, Gigi! Stop taking pictures of me and do something! Mom has scissors! She can't even cut wrapping paper straight! Hello! Gigi?! I'm scared, now. I'm scared!

Gigi!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make this stop!!! My hair is fine!!!!!! I hate my life! I heard my mom say I looked like a homeless child! I am known for my hair! It's my trademark! Giiiiigiiiiiiiii!!!! Why are you letting her do this to me?? This is so unfair.

Wait. Wait. Oh! Look! I still have a ton of hair. Wow, okay. All is good in my world, again. Can I have my train now? Phew, that was a close call.

I totally see a new profession in my future! Ha!

On The Road Again

I just got back to Tulsa from a long weekend in Dallas for a spray tan camp I signed up for. That's right, spray tan camp. I know what you're probably thinking, but it was amazing!! Well, this post isn't about that, so you'll just have to wait. I know how intriguing it can be.

While I was off, learning more about the right DHA and wedding industry, Davis played his little heart out with my family. And since I think Davis is pretty stinking cute, I had to post a few of those pics. Yup, more pictures of my little monkey!

Bath time = fun time
Look at the cute smile!!

What. A. Cutie!!

I have to tell Davis, "show me your teeth" and I get a goofy smile on cue. I love this one of Davis and Gigi!!

I don't have the actual pictures, because I was cutting the hair, but after over two years, Davis got his first hair cut!

I think I have to buy him a new tent, now.

And nothing beats story time with Aunt Em!

I would say overall, Davis had the best weekend!! He is always so sad to leave, which makes me so sad :( But....we had a LOT of fun :)

What would Mommy's Sippy Cup be without a little wine humor everyone once in a while? Besides, who doesn't love Betty White!

Now, off to find a new wine glass :)

28 Month Update

It's Davis update time and I have really gotten away from doing these. My last one was about 7 months ago, but at least we haven't had any earth shattering changes since then.

SLEEP

I think for most moms, this one is such a biggie! How I do not miss the days when I was walking around like a zombie. Davis' schedule hasn't changed much...yet! Thankfully!

Wake up: 8 am (earliest would be 7:30, but reads until I get him out of bed)

Nap: 2-5 (Nap may vary 30 min more or less, depending on the day. Again, if he wakes up early, he reads quietly in bed until I get him up.)

**The quietly part is changing lately because it is TEETHING TIME! As you know, this is such a barrel of laughs, and is just the time of your life. Now please shoot me**

Bath, Book, Bedtime: Starts around 7:20 for a bath, then a few books, then off to dreamland. Michael usually takes over at night, and does the night time routine. Mama gets a little break. Plus, it's "their time" together, and they really like it.

FOOD

I think Davis has the appetite of a high school quarter back. What am I going to do when he actually is in high school? Goodness, me! He eats everything, and anything. Bread is "pizza" and I have no idea how this started, but it's cute. Pizza is his one of his favorites though, which is funny, because that was pretty much my first word. Cottage cheese, cauliflower, V8, greek yogurt, grapes, salmon, and goldfish are his most favorite foods. I can't seem to keep enough V8 in the house. It's his "special" juice. He also still consumes milk like there is no tomorrow. We go through so much milk, I need to buy a cow!

PLAYING

All aboard! Anything choo choo is his current favorite! Dinosaur Train (whoever came up with that show is a genius) or Thomas the train. I still limit his tv time to about 30 minutes in the morning, and he loves, loves the choo choo. Other favorites are of course trucks. He seems to have moved on from the ball phase, which is really weird. Fine, he's allowed to change. He also does a lot better about playing by himself and having quiet time. We are getting there. (I think school is helping-2 days a week-MDO)

POTTY TRAINING

PUH-LEASE! At this rate, he'll be 5 before I can fully potty train this kid. I seriously need potty training for dummies, because it just isn't working. He's gone a total of three times, over a span of several months. If only we could settle down and stop moving, I think I could go in full force! So for now, his dinosaur is the one who goes potty on Davis' potty. Good times.

HELPING AROUND THE HOUSE

Davis loves to help me with everything. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes his helping isn't so helpful. But, it's still one of those things that is so cute. He loves to help me cook!! I'll put the pan on the floor, and after I've chopped all the veggies, I hand them to Davis to be placed in the pan. It's so cute to watch him get excited. I've also found this is a good way to teach him about new foods. Of course, I did tell him pears were apples because he was looking at the funny...but he devoured them. Clorox rags are another big interest right now. He cleans anything he can reach and then wants to do "more, please." Why yes, you can clean as much as you want! And laundry! This has to be my favorite! He strains to get the cloths in the wash or the dryer, and doesn't stop until it's in.

He's just getting so big!!! :( If only I could bottle up time!!

Have a great week, everyone!

Happy Wednesday!

Just Another Manic Monday

Seeing as how it's Monday, and my brain is still on snooze, I thought I would do a Pinterest post. If you are like me, then you are addicted to pinterest. Like, bad. I keep saying I am going to need a barn to fill for all of my crafty stuff I awnt to make from there. (Somehow, half of the things I have pinned are gone, but I'll keep going.) If you want to follow my random pins, check me out here.

I have always, and I mean always, want to try new things with my hair, but have no idea what to do. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to creativity on hairdos. I can whip up a mean ponytail, though! Oh, yeah!! Well, don't ya know, pinterest has the answer. A link to a blog with a TON of step by step how to's for idiots like me! Yay!

Here are a few of my favorites!

I LOVE this look!

I pretty much love braid anything...however, this may take me a year to figure out!

And this may be my favorite!

Here goes nothing! I'll start with these three. You should check out her blog. She has many, many more!

Happy pinning!

Mattress Helper

Davis is in the phase where he wants to help. With everything! Most of the time, it is so cute, especially when I am cooking and he can put food on a pan or sheet for me. But if it's helping while I'm folding laundry, I would rather him not help. Haha.

We went shopping for new pillows the other day, and of course had to try out new mattresses while we were there. Mattresses are next on our list, so knocking one thing out at a time. My little helper couldn't wait to test these babies out!

Look at that face! He's such a ham!! I love you, little monkey!

Have a great day, everyone

2012-BE A BETTER ME!

I seriously can't believe that it is already 2012! Where is the time going?! Wow, I say. Wow! I always attempt at making new years resolutions, but they mostly turn out about the same. You know, lose weight, go to the gym. Etc, etc. I want to be reasonable this year. I go to the gym all the time, so I can't say go to the gym. This year I want it to be about bettering myself. So for me, 2012 is all about becoming a better me.

Better myself by working out BETTER! Even though I go to the gym almost everyday, I could always step up my workouts and kick it into high gear. I look awesome, right!!?? Yeah, lots of hard work!! Okay, fine. I would take a half an ab that looked that good! A girl can dream.

Take time for myself!! I need to relax more, that's for sure. Whether it's getting a massage (daily, please!) or taking an hour to go to lunch with a friend, I need to unwind.

I would also like to work on being a better wife. I'm not saying that I think I'm a bad wife, and if someone (eh hem) is complaining, he's doing a good job of keeping it to himself.

I also don't mean be the stereotype 50's housewife and greet my hard working man at the door with a scotch and paper. Because, really, who are we kidding here. However, I do mean that I want him to know how much I appreciate all of his hard work that he does to provide for our family. Know that he is also stressed out as well, and does such a good job of keeping his cool. That he works hard for us and has the strongest work ethic of anyone I know. He's my rock and together we roll! Oh yeah, baby.

To be a better mom. Give more kisses, more hugs, more tickles, and more cuddles. Well, in a perfect world I would love that. Davis however, probably won't allow that, but I can sure try. Turn my phone and computer off more when he's up and focus more attention just on him. More arts and crafts with him. Try not to think about all of the laundry and cleaning that should be done, and just have some fun with him. Life is too short and my little man is only going to little for so long.

Something else to better myself, and that is really important to me is to better my relationship with God. In hopes that we can get somewhere and STAY somewhere, I would love to find a church that I can attend. I have too much to be thankful for and am extremely blessed in my life. I feel I have will find more peace in my life and be less stressed.

Volunteer to help others. Again, if we could get somewhere and stay somewhere, I am going to start signing up again for volunteer work. My dream would be to help at a children's hospital. I would love to read books to children and try to put a smile on their sweet faces.

So, in a nutshell, I want to Be a Better me!! So these are my resolutions that to me, seem very doable and very reasonable. Come on 2012, BRING IT!

New Years Partay Dress!

About a month ago, I wrote a post about how my amazing friend was making a dress for me. So naturally, I have to post some pictures of how gorgeous it turned out. Basically, I love it so much, that I didn't want to take it off. I may have slept in it, if I knew it wouldn't wrinkle.

And the icing on the cake, was that the dress had pockets. Oh so wonderful. My shoes, I also wanted to sleep in! Overall, I felt pretty good New Years Eve. I didn't care if we went to McDonald's, I just wanted to wear that dress!

If you ever need a one of a kind, custom made dress, you have to contact Danielle the Dressmaker. She is based out of California, but all I did was send her my measurements, and voila! Fits like a glove!

I hope everyone had a fabulous New Year, with a great year ahead!
