Friends?! Talk To Us Tuesday

Going through this relocation, adjustment, and chaos to Tulsa leaves me sometimes feeling alone. I have Michael, of course, to talk to, but sometimes I just want my friends to be around. Luckily, I am over the upset and crying part of moving, so at least that is a positive. But I can't help but wonder...a lot....where the hell are my friends! I feel like I have hit the out of sight out of mind deal. Having some of these girls around almost weekly to hang out at the house and have a glass or wine, or go out for a night out.

I have a few really good friends that I know will always be there for me. No. Matter. What! A few of these girls don't even live in the same state as I do, but we can always talk and pick up like we see each other all of the time. They truly are amazing friends to have in my life.

Then there are the people that I saw a lot. Some I even grew up with. Do you just grow apart from someone (all of a sudden, when you're moving)? Realize you aren't that close after all? I will be at my house next week, and was hoping to get together with a few girls. But how can you ask if you don't talk. No returned texts, calls, messages. So this is telling me to not think about it anymore and waste any more energy on this. I want to be like, 'YO PEOPLE! I'm still here. I haven't died. Guess what, you can talk to me!'

I can't help but feel a little hurt, but I guess that's life. Expect the unexpected and keep your head up. I thank God for the wonderful friends that I do have in my life and cherish the close friends that I do have. I am slowly starting to meet people here in Tulsa and that is always reassuring.

Too Much Fun??-WW

To think this was still somewhat at the beginning of the night. I have a total knack for making odd faces (aka ruining pictures)

But hey, we had fun :)

Pour Your Heart Out:Common Courtesy

Seriously, where and what happened to good old common courtesy? You would think your friends and family of all people would have some. But to no avail, some people have none. Were you raised in a barn? Do you have no manners? Did mama slap you with the stupid stick? I don't understand some people sometimes and what goes on in their heads. It has always, always bothered me when someone tells you they are going to do something and then don't. Sometimes don't even tell you that they aren't going to do it, and what, think you won't notice? I don't work that way. I will bend over backwards for you, keep my word, and be there, because that is what I would expect from other people. But ah, yes. Not everyone works that way.

What happened to RSVP to a party? It's completely nonexistent these days! Let me tell you, people showed up at my wedding and I didn't know who in the world some of those people were. It is completely uncouth to bring people that weren't invited, let alone people you don't even know. I can't even tell you how many people I met at my own wedding. Even if they are family, doesn't mean they have to come.

Although I didn't have a wedding this past weekend, I did have a BBQ for an early birthday. I was so excited when Michael decided to put this together for me in Dallas so I could see a bunch of my friends. It was going to be simple and fun. A cookout during the day, so that people could bring their kids, hang out and drink some beer. Easy! We sent out invites and at the bottom, (and it wasn't in fine print) said RSVP by texting to my phone. Granted, I did get a lot of texts saying that people were coming and I started to get so excited. I had counted over 30 people off the top of my head that were coming and I couldn't wait! The day of my BBQ, things started to change and my mood shifted. I texted some of my close friends saying I couldn't wait to see them....waiting, waiting. Nothing. I understand things happen. We have kids now. They get sick. Puke on your clothes, hair, what have you. So I totally understand. But if you can't come, have the common courtesy to at least let me know. I'm not going to get upset and start yelling at you or anything. Life is full of surprises. But I came in town expecting to see some of my close friends and didn't. Feelings hurt? Yes. What's my point? Pick up the phone. Text someone. RSVP! It's in the constitution!

Overall, my BBQ was a ton of fun, and don't get me wrong, people came. So don't go grabbing a Kleenex for me :) It was great and so much fun to catch up with friends I hardly ever get to see. My friends are amazing and I love you all!

Desperately Seeking Mommies!

So, today was perfect. Weather: Check. Michael off and home with us: Check. Davis in a good mood: Check, check. So, what shall we do today? Picnic? Yes, please. We pack up our picnic basket, (yes, we have an old school picnic basket. Don't hate.) and head to the park for some rays and relaxation. My husband made the lunch today, so I knew it had to be delicious. (I am blessed with a gifted husband in the kitchen. Maybe I should rent him out)

Delicious salad, homemade tortilla chips, yummmy sandwiches, and a little vino. Yes, ma'am. You know this! Davis absolutely loves being outside. If I could, I would put his crib in the backyard. I don't think he has ever been in a bad mood outside!
As Davis started looking at all of the other people playing, of course we had to go join in. Then we get this look, begging us to hurry and finish our food. Take me to play now, please! As we are all on the swings, this really nice family starts making small talk with us. These people seem so nice and normal. Oh, they have a son Davis' age! This is so great!! New friend. You know how it is. Sadly, in my head, I'm thinking how excited I am that I am meeting someone new. Maybe we can gets the kids together for a playdate soon. Making new mommy friends can be so hard! Almost impossible it seems. Even if you're in a mom's group, or involved in things in your area, maybe you don't "click" with anyone. Maybe they talk too much. Maybe they don't talk at all. Or you have absolutely nothing in common.

So, maybe I should write a mom ad. Desperately Seeking Mommies. In search of: Someone relatively close to my age. Lives near! Has children preferably close to my son. Likes going to parks, being outdoors, and still can dump the kids off with the hubby and grab a glass of wine from time to time and have girl talk. Only in a perfect world...or a crazy world...would I actually do this. I have friends that I can talk to, friends that have children. But not many that have the same thoughts of raising children, can honestly share your issues with, especially without getting ridiculed from others and what they do is right or better.

Well, what did happen to that really nice family that we met at the park? Come to find out they didn't even live in our area. Wouldn't it happen that way! So, Davis and I kept swinging and having a good ol time. Maybe another day and another time. Until then, I'll keep writing my fictitious want ad.

Who Needs Friends, Anyway?

ME! ME! I do!! I think as I get older, and I say that lightly, I am starting to realize more and more the importance of having friends in my life. Good friends. And I'm not saying that I have been a loner forever and didn't ever think friendships were ever important. I think it is harder as you get older to make good bonds with people, meet new good friends, and even keep the old friendships that you have had alive and going.
Why can't things be simple and easy like on 'Friends'?
friends Pictures, Images and Photos
Well, none of them had kids, for one! They pretty much LIVED in each others apartments. Were attached at the hip. Did any of them ever really work? Their main thing was sitting in the coffee house making small talk. Oh, oh. If only life were that easy!

Going home-by myself, baby and husband free this past weekend, made me really realize that I have some amazing friends. No, we don't get to see each other all the time, but when we do, we pick right back up where we left off. I have those friends that will bend over backwards for me as I would do the same for them. Talk their ears off (because I will talk your ear off) and have no quams about it. Bless their hearts, they actually sit there and listen to everything that I have to say. Now that is patience right there. Maybe they should get a medal. We have been through our ups and downs and every which way possible. But isn't that what true friendship is all about? You can get into fights, speak you mind, tell your friend what they don't want to hear, but need to, and always be able to make up in the end. I am that hard headed, stubborn person and am thankful that I get put in my place from time to time. Of course, I may not like what I am hearing then, it is for the better.

For all friends, new, old, and even people I have met through blogging-thank you always for your wonderful support! You can't go through life alone.
