I'm A Mad Housewife!

For the wine, that is. If you know me (which you don't have to. Simply look at my header and that says enough) then you know I love me a good glass of wine. Vino is my friend to the rescue. My partner is crime. One that lets me put my hands all over him and never says anything. Oh, sorry.....I got a little carried away.
I am a sucker for a great wine label. Whether it is a painting, an image I love, or just the logo itself that catches my eye. So, needless to say, this more than caught my eye.
Who wouldn't that attract? I love it!! Not only does the label crack me up, it's pretty darn good wine, I must say. I drink mostly reds, so the Cabernet is my favorite.
And the other thing I LOVE about the bottle is the verbiage on the back. If it's anything I hate about wine, is when it tells me nothing on the back. Give me a little story. Tell me about the wine, where it's from. Give me a quirky little blurb about how the bat crazy wife made everyone stomp on the grapes until they had blisters from the stems? I don't care what it may be, but tell me something. Everyone knows that the surgeon general says don't drink while you're pregnant, and not to operate machinery. (Does a flat iron count? That could be machinery and be dangerous!) I was pleasantly surprised when Mad Housewife gave me this quick little summary that spoke to my heart. Which then led to the bottle to saying, please, drink more. We are one.

“Somewhere near the cool shadows of the laundry room.
Past the litter box and between the plastic yard toys.
This is your time.
Time to enjoy a moment to yourself.
A moment without the madness.
The dishes can wait.
Dinner be damned.
Mad Housewife Cabernet Sauvignon”

This wine....it just gets me. Only I am allergic to cats, so we will have to have a talk about that. Pretty great, though, right? Have you tried it before?

What are your favorite bottles? Wines?

This should be a linkup....just sayin! Next week? Wednesday? Be there!

Mommy’s Sippy Cup
Speaking of linkup, next week's linkup question is:
What is your style best summed up as? Classic, trendy, or modern? What is your typical go to outfit? What beauty product can you NOT live without?

The New Planking-Mom Style

I'm sure we all know the fad of planking. Are people really that bored? How in the world do you come up with something like this? Maybe they were on the verge of passing out anyway, and decided to call it a trend to avoid being called on it. Besides, it's not a comfortable position. Don't ask me how I know that. Just letting you know.

Exhibit A

As you can see from Exhibit A, I think this is the perfect spot for her. At least she won't have a mess to clean up. Great plank by the way. Good form, arms in good position. All around, a 9.

And then we had owling. (Seriously! Owling?! All I can say is drugs are bad!)
My story for this is the person that started it, was actually caught in the woods about to use the bathroom. Instead they said, 'no, no, man. This is called owling! You haven't heard about this? It's the new planking! Idiot...you didn't know?'

I am jumping in on the trend, MOM STYLE! If you have ever had a day when your child is driving you crazy, you too, can join. If you have read some of my recent posts, then you know that my toddler is giving me the ride of my life, but I'm ready to hit the breaks. If you too, ever want to hide, run, scream, pull your hair out, or sell your child to the gypsies, then you too, can join. When the day seems to have no end, when there is no light in sight, and you're wanting an I.V. of coffee, my friend, this is for you. MOM STYLE. Now, if you are reading this, and you think I'm the devil for thinking my child is insane at times, not true. I am human and you must have super powers.

So, at the end of the day when you just want to relax with your own sippy cup, trust me fellow moms, I am right there with you. Together we can join in and win the battle that is toddler hood. MOM STYLE, UNITE! Meanwhile, on my next crazy day with my delightful little man, I will be invoking MOM STYLE, AKA, HIDING. Yup, you read right, hiding. Moms always joke about hiding in the closet to get away from their child, but this mom is not joking. I will bring my trusty friend Vino, and have some peace and quiet. Maybe bring a book or a magazine, I'm just not sure yet. Things could get crazy in there. Just me and Vino.

The next time you have a hectic day, just remember MOM STYLE and know you are not alone. There is actually someone out there, (ME!) that is actually crazy enough to go and do it :)

Happy hiding, everyone :)

**FYI, this post was intended to be humorous. I love my crazy little man to bits, and have only googled selling him to the gypsies twice. I also don't sit in my closet....on a daily basis.**

Pinterest Made Me Drink

Are you on pinterest? If you're not, be ready to be addicted. If you are, then you already know that pinterest is the devil, and it's like trying to give up crack. Okay, maybe not that far, but you get the point. I can waste way too much time on there, pinning things that I know I'll never make, never have in my home, and never be able to figure out that dang hairstyle. But I do it anyway, because hey, a girl can dream!

My craft list on pinterest is growing by the minute on there. I would have to have a barn to fill with the things I'm supposedly going to make! Since we are still in the apartment, I don't exactly have enough space to fill for the pins I'm pinning. So, half of them are going to have to wait until next year.

HOWEVER, I actually made my first pinterest DIY! Yes, people, it happened. I drank my way to my craft! I know, I know. Me? Drink? Well, if my banner and title of my blog doesn't give it away, then I don't know what to tell you. Mama likes a good glass of wine. So, pinterest+wine bottle+crafty stuff=amazing! One night, I decided to go on a drinking binge for the sake of pinterest, and downed about 10 bottles of wine. Please call Betty Ford and have me admitted. Just kidding, I spread the 10 over two nights, so we're good now. (again, kidding...maybe) Have you seen the salt wine bottles for Christmas? Too cute! So I made some. I actually made my friend come over and do some with me. She's a crafty nerd too, so it was pretty fun!

Seeing as how I left my sms card in the car and it's only 29 degrees outside, I took some quick pics with my phone. So you won't be able to see my amazing photog skills right now...because mama is lazy and doesn't want to get out in the cold!

Pretty, right? If you don't think so, just don't tell me. But it was super easy! Just pick out the color of spray paint you want, rub on some mod podge glue, and sprinkle epsom or sea salt! Voila! Homemade Christmas decoration that you drank your way to! Haha :)

What have you made? I'm on a mission to make a wreath, now. We'll see how that turns out. Don't worry, it's not a wine bottle wreath or anything! Wait! I can make a cork wreath! :)

Mom, Fail!

Last week, I had the pleasure of driving alone with my very well behaved two year old, and my 80 pound dog that never cries when he wants attention. It was four hours of singing, laughing, and having a grand ole time. I would look back at Davis and think, 'Golly, gee! This is swell. I can get used to this!'

SO NOT WHAT HAPPENED!

I'm sure that you can put two and two together to realize what went on for FOUR HOURS STRAIGHT! Davis used to love car rides and would actually take his naps quite well on road trips. But seeing as how he has turned into a crazy child, he wanted to really let me know how he felt about being strapped down for so long. From the moment we set foot into the car, blood curdling screams came out of his tiny little body. How can something so small, make noises so insanely large? A two year old is really hard to rationalize with. Well, because it is beyond impossible! You can't turn around and say, 'Now sweet pea, mommy is sitting quietly for four hours also. See? I'm strapped to my chair, as well. Now carry on like a good prince you are.' That's when a truck would probably have been hurled at my head. Again!

By the time that we were back in the Dallas metroplex, I think steam was coming out of my ears, and my head was about to explode. And awww crap, it's now dinner time. Cooking something for us was the last thing that I wanted to do. Especially since we took all of our food to Tulsa and this now entailed actually doing some grocery shopping. Yes, yes. I could have ordered a pizza, but it would have taken way too long. Grocery store it was. I was on the hunt for some pre-made sandwiches, or something already put together. I saw notta!! Honestly, the thought of buying some lunchables seriously crossed my mind. While they would have sufficed for me, I couldn't bring myself to feed my son crackers for dinner. So, I threw them in the cart anyway just in case for lunch tomorrow. Lunch is totally different than dinner....of course! So the next best thing to buy was frozen dinners. I can not tell you the last time I bought a frozen dinner! Literally, has been years. Grab some chicken and pasta mess and figured we are good to go. But wait, Davis will be going down to bed soon and I would really love a glass of wine and to unwind. Oh, maybe I should get some beer, too. So, I grab a pack of beer and a bottle of wine, and I head to the front. At this point, I was so exhausted that I had forgotten that Michael will be out of town, and that's who I was buying the beer for. Since Davis was starting to get antsy, I let him out of the buggy and he was helping me push. I'm chit chatting away on my phone, while he's pushing like a big boy. I then look in my buggy, and think, wow! Frozen dinner, lunchables, beer, and wine. This does not look good. This ensemble looks like something a bachelor would have thrown into the cart. Not a mom trying to get dinner ready for her son. So, I'm feeling pretty awesome at this point.

We are almost to the front of the line, and BAM! Davis smashes his fingers in between the cart and the conveyor belt. Oh, no! I hang up the phone to go get Davis and console him. WHAM! As I'm picking up my already screaming child, I ram his head into the grocery cart. Needless to say, Davis is now in hysterics. Which brings more attention to the very decent, and healthy meal that I have planned for us for dinner.

Of course when we get home, all is well...as well as well can be. I feed Davis his gourmet chicken and pasta and he's off to bed. I have my....whatever that frozen mess was....and I sip happily in the silence that I was waiting for.

I now laugh at this experience. Although at the time, did not find it funny, but rather embarrassing. But hey, I'm only human. As for Davis, his gut wrenching screams have his species yet to be determined.
