5 months...Whoa!!

I can't believe I'm posting these, but oh well! My belly is definitely a fun thing to maneuver around in yoga classes these days!

I seem to have lost my brain! Have you seen it?

I would like to say that I'm a relatively good cook. I'm no Paula Dean, but I can make a pretty good meal every once in a while. But then I get pregnant and all of that gets chopped up in the blender. What has happened to me? I can't even follow a simple recipe without somehow managing to mess that up!
I think the first thing I noticed was around my 3rd month, and I was making dinner. Only I was staring at the ingredients I had put out on the counter like some alien had just placed them there. What was I making again? Oh, right! Michael had actually told me he just read about this, and people call it "Baby Brain." Sure, we can go with that. So things like this continued, or I would just put my orange juice in the pantry. You know, the normal stuff. Then when it actually has come down to me making some things lately, it's completely foreign to me. Who knew boiling some eggs wasn't such a simple task. Well, when it's me it is. I almost always have boiled eggs in the house, and sometimes eat one before I go to bed to try and avoid hunger pains in the middle of the night. I placed about 7 eggs in water, and set the water to boil. I went about doing what I was doing, and an hour and a half went by! Yes, the eggs were still in the water! I actually thought Dexter had gotten into something because I kept hearing this weird popping noise and a spraying sound. I thought it was the sprinklers, but wait, we don't have sprinklers!! Of course when I go to find what the dog had gotten into, my eggs were dead. The water had evaporated, and all the eggs had cracked and were green on the inside. You can only imagine the wonderful smell this left behind in my kitchen for about a day. Beautiful!
Last week I was going to make crawfish etoufee. Something I've made so many times, I don't know how I don't have the recipe memorized. Even if I did, it wouldn't have helped me here! I'm going to make the roux. Melt the butter and sift in flour. I'm doing that and nothing is happening! The flour keeps clumping up! So, I dump everything out...3 times....and start all over! Nothing. Still clumping. I'm determined to make this, and attempted again a few nights ago. Low and behold, the recipe calls for 4 tablespoons of flour, not 4 cups of flour! I have no idea where I got this from. Nothing even said cup on the entire recipe! Go figure!

5 months and counting!!

On Thursday, I'll officially be a full five months along. So far, this pregnancy has blown by. Now, the more and more I get excited to meet Davis, the longer it seems to be. August just seems so far away. Patience isn't a virtue I have. At all.I've become addicted to Craigslist, buying little things for Davis, and trying to save a buck here and there. I was actually able to get the same swing I had registered for. It seems so odd to have all this baby stuff in my house. Our dog, Dexter, has been so curious as to what is going on. He goes into the room where it is, and just sniffs it out, wondering what is invading his turf.I had a sono appointment last week, and it was absolutely wonderful! I was able to really see Davis this time, and it was amazing. He's already 1 pound 1 ounce! Slow down in there! Whoa, baby! Most babies don't get to one pound until after the 23rd week, but of course Davis wants to make a statement. Goodness! I think I've jinxed myself though. I kept saying I was going to have a big baby, and I think it's coming true. Michael was 10 pounds when he was born. 10 pounds!!! Really?!? Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts.

It's a boy!!!!

We are soooo excited to introduce (in several months) Davis Michael Cortez! We can't wait, and I know I'm already dying with anticipation! Seeing him for the first time was absolutely amazing. I thought that I would be calm, and not really get emotional. Me!? Not get emotional? Exactly. We were able to see a full view of his face. He was sticking his tounge out at us pretty much the entire time. He already has my attitude. Watch out!

For some reason, I just knew that we were having a boy. Either way, I didn't care what we were going to have, as long as we have a healthy baby. But I just KNEW! I kept having these dreams about buying blue things, and taking care of a baby boy. Although, in a couple of my dreams, our baby boy had blonde hair and light skin. I don't see that one happening. Maybe I was babysitting :)

I feel like I've been waiting for this moment forever, and can't even begin to describe how excited that I am. As soon as we left the room from our sono, I just lost it. I just started crying so hard because all of a sudden, it seemed so real. Michael just stood there, and hugged me as hard as he could. I'm sure people at the hospital thought we just got the worst news ever, but they were good tears.
