Still Amazes Me...

and then, she {snapped}

No other reason than I just adore this man. He would serve the moon on a platter for me if it was within his reach. Thank you for making my dreams come true, believing in me, and help me to become the person I am today. You are an amazing husband and father, and I couldn't ask for anything more in my life. I love you.

How Sweet It Is!

When I say that we have amazing neighbors, that doesn't begin to explain what amazing is. While we were on our house hunt last year, we wanted a family neighborhood with hopes of finding people our age, with kids of the similar age, and hopefully all hit it off. Thinking this would never happen, we wrote this off and chalked it up to dream land fantasy. How could this possibly happen, right? Low and behold it actually exists. Our neighborhood is amazing. And while I only know a few people that live near us, we have totally hit it off with the neighbors. A sigh of relief enters as it actually feels like a dream come true. Because really think about it. To find someone not only you like and get along with, but that your husbands both get along and your kids aren't trying to beat each other up! I don't know about in your world, but in mine that is pretty awesome.

So, why my rambling about these fantastic neighbors? We had movie day this past weekend. Meaning that Michael and I actually went to a movie. By ourselves. During the day! Together!! Our neighbors watched Davis and he played with his new little buddy. It felt exhilarating and freeing to actually be doing something during the day together. It was liberating, I must say. We giggled like we were teenagers, off to run the streets. Feeling like we were doing something we shouldn't be doing, only...we were just going to see a movie. Trying to think of the last time we had done such a thing, see a movie that is, we had no recollection what so ever. Movies used to be one of our favorite things to do. So of course I had to have the full movie experience. Even though I was completely full and couldn't fit a morsel in my stomach, "I'll take a popcorn and soda, please" Ahhh yes, the movie theatre. Where tears are shed, laughter happens, and there is absolutely no sound within the entire vicinity of a baby crying. Bliss!

Later that day, we did the switch. We watched their son and it was their turn to go to a movie. I'm sorry, but I think we are just sheer geniuses. I feel like I need to alert the press on this one. "Mom and Dads switch to go to a movie and alternate babysitting duty." That would make front page, I'm sure!

If you haven't, go meet your neighbors! Bring cookies! Or wine. Heck, just show up and introduce yourself and cross your fingers!

Modern Vintage Boutique Giveaway!!!

Before you read this entirely, a word of caution. Modern Vintage Boutique will become your favorite clothing source and you are going to wonder how you ever lived without her site! With that being said, we may proceed.

A few months ago, I ran across MVB and quickly fell in love. All of the site's clothing is not only unique and in style, but very affordable. You know how it is when you're a mom. You love to shop and totally wish you could more often, but bills and groceries take priority! Well, let me tell you, her online boutique is so affordable it takes rein on going to your local shop or mall. Plus, if you're also a mom, who has time to go out and actually shop? With trying to fit a stroller in between clothes racks and actually try them on, it's close to impossible. Well she took the impossible and made it happen. Being a mom herself and a lover of all things fashion, she started Modern Vintage Boutique for the busy lady. "I've chosen each piece in this Boutique based on its wearability, it's quality of materials and construction, and ultimately on the question of whether I'd wear it or not. The answer to this question for every piece of jewelry, clothing, and accessory is a resounding "YES"."

I was literally jumping for joy when I was able to review this totally adorable 'Sleeveless Front Frilled Blue Top.' This is the perfect Spring/Summer top. It's light weight fabric is perfect for those scorching hot days and still allows you to be super cute! Perfect for jeans, black shorts/pants, or jean shorts. I also love the racer T back, which makes it feel a little sporty. The frilly flowers are the perfect touch to add to your girly and fun side, while the pop of bright blue is the perfect touch with the light pink. With this shirt only being $36, it will fit perfectly into your wardrobe! Here are a few of my favorites! So, I bet you are wondering what is in store for you! Modern Vintage Boutique is offering one of my lucky readers a $25 gift card towards an item of their choice. There are plenty of ways to enter!

No, he's not potty trained. I am getting him acquainted with big boy underwear.

You Know Your Life Has Changed When...

Do you ever have thoughts and think, damn! Am I getting old? These moments seem to happen to me a lot. Like, almost everyday. If I told you all of them, I'm afraid we would be here for quite a while.

For instance when I go to a friend's house and fall in love with their washer and dryer. Ya see, our washer and dryer is from the stone age and I'm surprised at how it still works great. So we don't actually need a new one, but I sure would LOVE a new one. Wow, that's a nice piece of machinery you've got going on in there. I would totally love to have my hands on that! As drool is forming in the mouth.

Oh, the loads of laundry I could do in that baby! And then you suddenly have dreams of redoing your entire laundry room. Thought clouds forming above head.

Or when you have become suddenly excited and can not wait until Friday. Practically jumping up and down, can't stand it kind of excited. Why? No. It's not hot date night with the hubby, or hanging out with friends. No, my friend....it's better. Chuck E Cheese! Oh yeah. I couldn't contain myself and felt like I reverted back to my youth as I used the excuse we were going to take Davis there to play. It's the little things, right?

(And to be honest I had such a great time even though I was surrounded by Bebe's kids!) Oh, and they serve beer now? I don't even know if that should be allowed! Moving on...

And when we have a Mardi Gras party and we were in bed...before 2! The kitchen was cleaned, everyone was gone, and we were out! It was so much fun, but I think my days of partying are so long gone it's not even funny.

Again, you find yourself at a friends and are in awe of their fence. Yes, the fence. It looks so pretty, you think to yourself....only you realize you say it out loud. We are shopping around for someone to stain ours, so this is why I was gawking at the fence in the first place...but still! How conversations have changed over the last few years. From partying to fences. I couldn't even relate the two if I tried! Unless I was at a party and I jumped the fence, but that's a whole other blog post!

Weekend Fun!!

Davis has a new buddy and they are so, so stinking cute when they play together. Our neighbors have a little boy that was born only 4 days before Davis and they love getting together outside.

I couldn't help myself and had to get them matching St. Patrick's Day shirts. I guess I'm pretty excited also that Davis has a friend that lives next door! They even had their first sleepover. I wondered if they were going to stay up and have baby talk, but they both went right to sleep. Ahhh....getting so big :)
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

CATCH!

Why am I posting this video? Because my dog loves Davis so much that he will actually stand there so Davis can pick the ball back up. For years since we have had Dexter, we can NOT play catch with him. At all. Period. He will wait for you to get right next to him, take the ball in his mouth, and RUN! This was so cute, I had to share a little clip of it. And Davis cracked up every time Dexter would take off running after the ball. So sweet!

Deep Thoughts by Davis-wordless Wednesday

Davis wasn't very happy when I interrupted his very in depth conversation...with himself!

Happy Fat Tuesday! Mardi Gras Time!

If you know me, you know I'm from Louisiana. If you don't know me, hey, I'm originally from Louisiana! So this past weekend we had a Mardi Gras party that I have to say was so fun! We had enough jambalaya to feed an army along with delicious sides to go with it. And of course you can't forget the great and wonderful king cake!

Yeah, that's right. Mama was a little excited! Our best friends came in to see us and was the highlight of my weekend!

Behind us is a giant jenga set which turned out to be such a hit! Of course it sounded like a huge BOOM when it hit the floor, but it was so much fun!!
Old friends came, work friends, and new neighbors. Just in time for us to finally get the house all done and let everyone see.

And Davis really enjoyed all of the balloons when he came home!

Happy Fat Tuesday everyone!

Peek A Boo!

At the same park as the 'Gas station attendant,' Davis went back for more yesterday. We absolutely love the little village park and he has a blast. He kept running in and out of the little red school house, laughing, and playing peek a boo with me.

I love my little man!

Keep It To Yourself?

This morning I got an email with the subject asking how much do I post on my blog. It got me thinking that I don't always post what I want to post and write about. Lord only knows if I did, there would be some very unhappy people. But then I question myself wondering if I don't write it here, where would I write it? I know I read some people's blogs and they let it all out. The fights with siblings, parents, husbands, the dog...whoever. Then there are other blogs where they decide to not so much as post a picture of the family members. I guess I fall somewhere in the middle. I write enough to get me by, but really wish I had an anonymous blog at times whre I could let it all out. Maybe I would call it Mommy's Flask. Just kidding.

However, it does really bother me though that I can't be candid in fear of what others will think or how they will respond. Like I have written and said many times before, some people in my family aren't the most open and honest with each other. Or if you do say how you feel the defense wall just gets put up and I wonder why I say anything. Instead there is a smile on the face and act like all is okay. Although in my world, life doesn't work like that and never will. This seems to be sufficient for others as things are dust under the rug.

As Davis is getting older, I want us to have an open and honest parent/child relation with each other. Obviously that is easier said than done, but I know that Michael and I will do our best to have him know that we are here for him. I don't want him going through life holding battle scars and being almost 30 and have them still hurt him. Since my wounds are still healing, I hold my head high and do my best not to let them get me down. These things will always be hard, but chin up, right?
So in a round about way after reading that question, this was my long winded answer. I vent, but I don't. I let it all out, but I keep it in. I want to share, but I tell tid bits. I am still hurt, but can't change a person, only myself.
