To My Children

Michael and I are still newlyweds, as we got married last October 11, 2008. We always knew that we wanted children, but thought that we would wait atleast a year before that happened. Wrong!!! Seeing as how I'm about to give birth in about 10 weeks. Funny how that happens. I think God just had different plans for us and knew it was time. I guess you could say my life goal was to be a mom and the best mom I can be. Well, my wish came true and I've never been so thrilled.

Michael and I went to Italy for our honeymoon last year. Yes, I serioulsy want to move there. Two weeks just wasn't long enough and we are already thinking about how and when we can get away again. Send the kids to grandparents house! While we were in Italy though, I bought a journel and wanted to record as much as I could. I wrote about different things from the museums, people, the food, the amazing wine, churches, etc. I didn't want to forget anything and wanted to remember it forever. One of the entries I wrote was a letter to my children. I know it may sound weird, but it was short and to the point. I also didn't know that I would come back and one month later be pregnant. Maybe there is something in the wine :) This was my little letter:

Sitting in front of a cafe on a great day, writing in my journal

To My Children,
I'm sure this seems very odd to write to my nonexsisten children, but oh well. Within the next year or so, maybe I'll get lucky and you will be here. I am mainly writing this book for you, in hopes that someday you read it and understand our love for one another...maybe even get to know us a little better. Who knows! But, that's my corny wish! Know it wasn't easy for us to get here, but if you want something bad enough, you'll work as hard as you can to get it. Even if people tell you it's impossible. Never give up, if you fail, try harder. Follow your heart and fulfill your dreams! xoxo

While I would write, Michael would drink his espresso that he fell in love with...he's not even a coffee drinker!

What a cute idea! My crazy aunt made me write one to my 'kids' when I was like 13, I actually still have it, unopened. It'll be interesting to read that when the boys get to be that age.
Both my boys were born in August.. good luck with the summer!

Absolutely love Italy. I've been there twice and will be back too. It's so beautiful and Italians know how to appreciate life. Don't drop the little one off a grandma's though - take him along! :)

Hi!

I love your letter to the children. I wish all parents woulld try n take the effort to know and befriend their children, treat them as a gift. I am not a mother myself, God I am not even married! But i know enough to know what love means to a child...

So cute! He really does look adorable with that tiny cup. I'm sure he'll be even cuter with a tiny baby in his hands. I am so excited for you. I better run before I catch baby fever, two is my limit ;)

Aww that is so sweet! I can relate to getting pregnant not long after getting married. We had planned to wait awhile before we had kids but that wasn't in God's plan. Our 3rd wedding anniversary is in Nov and we already have two kids. It is hard to imagine life any other way though.

Congratulations!

Aww, I think it's sweet and smart that you're writing to your future children! I do it too! :)

And my BFF is pregnant and she's been married just a year... wasn't planning it either but like you said... Sometimes God has different plans! :)

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I got pregnant eight months after we were married. Everybody was so upset. "Why so soon?" they would ask . We always wanted children, now I am 40 and have four and just celebarted our 15 wedding anniversary! Your post brought back good memories for me. My husband and I went to Italy 5 years ago and it was the best trip ever!! Even after you have children make sure you travel...it is the best time for you and your husband to reconnect. remember you two were there first..don't ever forget that. I know that sounds kind of bad, but some couples get caught up with oter things and forget about each other.
congrats on baby! it such a precious time in your life!!
