Hard Worker

To sit back and sip coffee or clean the floor? That is the question. I had a simple solution to that today. Davis....mama needs you!

Yes, that is a giant lint roller as my attempt to clean up more dog hair. If only Davis could fold the laundry!!

**It was so super cute watching him want to help me today! So hey, go for it kiddo!**

Friday Confessional

Photobucket
I confess that I feel really old because I still left a little after 11:30.
And Davis was a demon child yesterday morning, so I placed him in his crib to calm down. He fell asleep. I let him take a cat nap.
Lunch time came and I was too lazy to throw anything together. We went to McDonald's. I hadn't been to McDonald's in years. Davis had his first happy meal and devoured every last morsel. I on the other hand, felt like and awful mom. But damn it was good!
Instead of changing Davis' clothes that he spilled milk on, I let him run around with no clothes on. I just told myself his skin was airing out. We played outside in the backyard (the neighbors couldn't see me in my big sweats) and we had a fun time running around....while I cleaned up poop. That was fun!
I confess that again, although I had an amazing time with my girlfriends, how in the world did I used to do that so much? I had no headache...I was TIRED! Whew, mama can't handle that. But the sushi was great and the girl talk was even better!
I confess that I didn't even have my typical glass of wine with dinner last night. Shocking, right!?!

Gas Station Attendant

At the ripe old age of 1 1/2, Davis took his first job at the gas station. Although it is manual labor for a baby, he eats like a line backer. If this child doesn't work we will be living in a box under the highway soon. See? Even he is perplexed and isn't quite sure how to handle all of the stresses he is enduring on his first day. Get your wallets out people! This baby works for tips. And make them big, mama wants some new shoes!

ABC's Of Parenting

Always, and I repeat always, proceed with caution. Is this going to be a good day, or a bad. Don't just assume!

Bankie. Davis can NOT sleep without it. Even after trying to replace it and it's funkiness, he is too smart for us.

Chalk will be eaten, crayons will melt. Candle, anyone?

Dog food is a toddler delicacy

Eating in peace and actually enjoying a real meal is now considered a luxury. Wearing their food is now more the norm. What is even more fun is when you are learning what hair and head is!

Frantic screams. Whether they are coming from Davis or myself, they both happen.

Gagging is allowed, especially after a really nasty diaper change or if you are cleaning up vomit

Hide everything. I couldn't find my shoes last week and found them under the bathroom sink. That's normal...right?!?

Intelligence declines with parenthood. You may have all the answers for your friends and family as far as parenting is concerned, but when it comes to your own kids, clueless is a better description. This is normal.

Jolt. The movement you make when your son screams in the middle of the night. Why? Only to find out he, himself, threw his blanket out of the crib.

Karma. I am suffering from it due to when I was younger.

Luck. Sometimes you just gotta wing it and pray for the best!

Motherhood includes being a nurse, a psychologist, a maid, a cook, a seamstress, a cop, and most of all a saint. After this journey you will have adequate experience to pursue the career of your dreams, that is if you actually have the energy and motivation to do so.

Neverending. You know that day that seems to have 48 hours in it but just pray for it to be over? It won't stop, it keeps going, going, going....

Outdoor activities are a sure bet when it comes to tiring out your kids. However, it has the same effect on you, so be careful. You are getting older you know!

Prepared. ALWAYS be prepared. Nothing worse when you leave the house only to realize you didn't pack the diaper bag and you are now faced with an explosive mess!

Queen…once you decided to have children you gave this title up, however you will be reinstated once you become a grandmother. You will have definitely earned it back!

Rancid smells!! Possibilities could include sour milk that has been left in the car...in the middle of summer, a dirty diaper that you have also found next to it, the dog ate an entire clove of garlic and is hacking up in the dining room, you left a load of laundry in the machine and have to start all over.

Sanity. If you find mine, please let me know.

This too shall pass

Understand that you will never be a perfect parent, a perfect person, but if the kids are alive at the end of day, I understand you deserve a glass of wine!

Veggies. These are now commonly shared with Dexter. Good times

Waste nothing! I was trying to do crafts with Davis on our snow day, but have no craft supplies. I am hoarding paper towel rolls, foil, paper. You know, the usual.

Xylophones as gifts for kids should be illegal. Spare your nerves and your hearing, if your child receives one as a gift promptly hide it and re-gift it. Yes, tacky I know, but you will thank me.

Yelling in my closet happens on occasion and I always pray the neighbors can't hear me.

Z oo. A mini zoo is our house at times but I wouldn't trade it for the world!!

NO Time To Cook!

Did you ever envision that you would be a 'Leave It To Beaver' mom, but maybe minus the pearls while cooking? TV makes it look so easy. The moms are all nice and dressed. The hairs all on in place. The table is always set so perfect and the children were smart enough not to enter the kitchen while the moms were cooking. Who has time to roast a duck and do all of the trimmings every night. You realize, oh yes, life happened. That's right! So, instead of the pearls, you feel like this instead...

I hear so many of my friends say all the time they have absolutley no time to cook. Ever! I don't make a five course meal everynight, but home cooked meal sure beats McDonald's! Now, I realize that little Johnny has soccer practice and Lily has ballet. But if you have 40 minutes, you can beat the drive through.

A few months back I posted about how I made a binder full of To-Do Lists. Including house chores, coupons, Davis' schedule, and recipe/menu for the week. So I wanted to write this post for every busy mom to give an example! You can make an amazing meal that seems like it took forever, but it was as easy as can be! Oh...and did I mention all are HEALTHY?!?

Your husband will love them, and so will the kids. Throw some raisins in with the brussel sprouts and they are delicious!

Day #4 Of Snow Day. I'm A Southerner!

Today is Day #4 of a good ole snow day. Insert mass amounts of sarcasm topped off with pulling hair out. As many of you know, I live in Texas for crying out loud. Southerners are not too fond of this weather. If I wanted to live in the frigid cold, by God, I would move to Colorado or Chicago. But I live in Texas. Usually the land of heat and wearing sun dresses in the middle of winter. This year is a whole other ball field. I think hell has frozen over and we are in it. Most of you are moms so you know exactly what I'm talking about when I say that staying confined in your home with a 1 1/2 year old for one day is enough, let alone consecutive days. Oh, such good bonding time we are having. Luckily, Davis has been a trooper!!! We have been painting, reading, playing with blocks, anything to pass the time and stay entertained. Every once in a while I have to do a sanity check and make sure I am still in tact. So far, so good. Mommy's Sippy Cup to the rescue. Also, Michael has been unable to go to work this week as well, so he has also been home with us. Now him on the other hand, he is LOVING this! He doesn't have to go to work, so of course he does. Me? Not so much.

Yesterday, I had enough. We were going out. I didn't care where we went as long as it was somewhere. Maybe to the mall and Davis can play on the indoor playground. They were closed! Ikea, Closed! Target to the rescue!!! We even found a party store that was open and bought decor for our upcoming Mardi Gras party. I am so excited! Genghis Grill was open where of course Davis devoured his noodles and fruit.

Yes, that huge bowl in front of him was allll his! It was a child's portion, however, I'm sure he could have eaten the entire adult portion. He slurps up noodles like a champ! I still love watching him eat. I am a weird mom like that. It is pretty entertaining.

At the end of the day, Davis was not a happy camper wearing his 'winter gear.' Take it off!!!

Slowly but surely, he started to give in. No more fighting.

And throwing in the towel!
"Happy" Snow Day, everyone!

All Ready For School!

I took this picture yesterday morning before I took Davis to 'school.' He is absolutely loving Mother's Day Out! Michael's mom sent this backpack so we could pack extra snacks in it. She joked saying that it was so we wouldn't get charged more since my son is a human vacuum!
But I thought this picture was too cute. He looks like he is posing, sticking his little foot out like that!!

If you are snowed in like me today, hope you have a nice, lazy day :) I don't feel like I live in Texas anymore!
