I Eat. I EAT Everything!!

Tuesday night, Davis and I had date night. Just me and him. There is an amazing Thai restaurant right next to the hotel that I absolutely love, so we went there. Especially since it was pretty early, there were only a few other people there. So, just in case the baby demon came out, there wouldn't be too many witnesses. I ordered my little chunky monkey Pad Thai Noodles and he slurped them up. Literally!!!
It was so cute watching him dig through the noodles. Pile them in his mouth. And sluuuuuurp them all up. I have to say it was a wonderful date night with my little man.
I love you, Davis!!

Santa Came

Although I don't have but a few pictures from Christmas this year, it has to be one of my favorites yet! Seeing Davis' eyes light up when he would stare at all of the lights on the tree was just adorable. Tapping all the ornaments, but not taking any of them off, observing them just hanging on the beautiful limb. Watching him explore all the Christmas goodies. The presents, the train under the tree, even all of the little Santa Claus' that were lined up on the stair case. He didn't touch much, just observed with curious wonder. Being at my dad's house for Christmas was perfect for us seeing as how we are STILL in the hotel. Our normal traditions that Michael and I like to do got put on hold this year, due to not being at our house for the past TWO MONTHS. Like Christmas cards, for instance. We always sends cards to everyone and this year, that unfortunately got put on the back burner. With our entire house sitting on an 18 wheeler as I type, this are a little stressful to say the least. But that didn't stop us, though. We still made my grandmother's famous spritz cookies which we all loved as kids. The little trees, wreaths, and stars sprinkled with red and green that of course you eat more of since they are so small. I still have my Mimi's cookies gun that she used when she made them every year. Biting into those tiny little cookies always makes me think of her.
This year seemed like the first Christmas that we can remember that was laid back and not rushed. We had such a great time just relaxing and playing games together. We played Taboo and had the best time, laughing in the kitchen.
Here's Michael trying to give clues and of course the girl won! All I have to say is that he is special.

But my favorite has to be watching my little man. Of course, as usual, he wasn't interested in opening the presents, but the boxes that they came in.
He got these new slippers for Christmas and could care less about the new things that were on his feet, but the paper that was wedged inside of them. My little 16 month old is in full force of discovery and mischief these days. Getting into everything and challening us and himself as he is trying to bolt up my dad's staircase. We can't block it off fast enough before he has become Superbaby and is half way up the. And speaking of Superbaby, he is becoming warp speed flying around everywhere. We let him walk around the halls in the hotel and now he is at a slow jog. Davis found a orange on Christmas day and decided to take a bite.
Bitter. Tangy. Hmm...different. But he kept on eating.
So as 2010 comes to an end, this year has been beyond amazing. I am ready for a new and amazing year, to learn and grow with my beautiful family. And as things settle down, I will have more of a normal routine going on and actually be able to blog :)
Hope each and every one of you had a very blessed and joyous holiday with your family and loved ones.

Santa Baby!

I couldn't help but post both of these pictures together, showing how much my little guy has changed in the past year. In the blink of an eye, he is getting so big and learning so much. Oh, he melts my heart!

I of course can't resist dressing him in costumes while I can. It's the right of passage of being a parent! Right?!?

Things are slowly but surely getting back into a routine. I haven't been able to blog as much as I would like right now, but I'm getting there. And wouldn't you know every night when I go to bed, I think of the most wonderful post to write about. If only my brain had a printer.....
Then the next morning I forget everything I wanted to talk about!

But isn't he just the cutest little thing, ever?

It's A Charlie Brown Christmas

If you live near, in, or get to visit the DFW area, you MUST go to the Gaylord Texan and see this years ICE. Every year, they come up with a new theme, and this year is Charlie Brown on ICE. All of the characters, sets, props, EVERYTHING, is made out of ice. Despite the fact that is was a chilling 9 degrees and they have to give you parkas to wear, it was absolutely amazing! We had such a great time. We bundled Davis up in about 3 layers, so he stayed pretty warm....for the most part.
Just look at some of these pictures! Don't they look like the real thing?

Yeah, so we could see our breath, and after a while, I couldn't feel my fingers, but I felt like a kid again. I'm ready to go back! Just drink a lot of hot chocolate!

*I'm trying to upload more pictures, but my computer is hating me....I'll keep trying :)

Baby Down! BABY DOWN!

I have been so bad about getting Davis' pictures done lately. I mean, reallly bad! I haven't had any done since February, and even those were family pictures. So I was determined to get some done for the holidays. I found the cutest little pj outfit and sweater for the little occasion and of course I was so excited! I could also tell Davis was just so excited, too. (I am actually shocked he didn't try to pull his hat off, so we did good!)

Yesterday was the first time we had pictures taken since he is mobile. And by mobile, I mean all over the place, into everything, and does not want to sit still. Did I really decide to do this? If you are a mom to a toddler, you know exactly what I am talking about. Whew! Good times. Well, let me tell you, Davis did really well. Really well for a 15 month old that did not want to sit still. It was so hard choosing which pictures as there were such adorable ones to choose from. I wanted ALL of them! But what in the world would I do with 100+ pictures?! I can only keep so many!

After the pictures are snapped and captured, we waited until our pictures were being processed. (If there is a Portrait Innovations near you, I highly suggest it!) Davis was playing with other little kids on the Lego table and it was so precious watching them all together.

Look at him! So big! About .5 seconds after I took this picture, the awful happened. I don't know who is more traumatized. Him or me. While he was walking back up to the table, he did a face plant right on the edge. I did the usual, 'you're okay, just get back up!' Then I noticed blood on my hand. Why is my hand covered in blood?!? Oh hell! Running to the bathroom and trying to stay calm myself, I looked at his chin. Lord, there is a huge gash in his chin. He is of course kicking and screaming, and I feel like I may cry. There was a doctor in the building that came over and helped us, telling me Davis may have to get stitches. Wait! Stitches. Deep breath, calm down Jessica. Where is Michael when I need him. He always calms me down. The nice doctor tells me about the urgent care place down the street and I rushed to get there. If I had gotten pulled over, I was rehearsing the speech in my head, or would have just had the police officer follow me to urgent care and plead for mercy. Thank goodness that didn't happen :) Although it was a fairly large gash, they were able to glue his chin back and avoid stitches. Ahhh...relief! If he does bust his chin again in the next couple of days, he will have to get stitches. Is is possible to wrap him in bubble wrap for the time being?

We went back to pick up our pictures and I was thinking about how good Davis had been for the entire thing. He stayed pretty calm when they had to open it up a little and clean it up. I just wanted to hold him like a little baby and tell him he'll be okay. I wanted to give him a treat for being such a good boy. Just as we were about to get back in the car, the heavens made me notice the bakery next to the photo place. Yes, Davis NEEDS cupcake! So, I got FOUR! After dinner last night, Davis got to devour a little cupcake and it was absolutely adorable!

He's feeling much better, but I can tell his little chin is hurting him pretty bad. So take a look at some of the pictures we had made yesterday! Aren't they just the cutest! I just want to eat him up :)

CHOO! CHOO!!

Gramps is magical!

My dad and Jamie watched Davis the other night and obviously had a great time. The house is ready for Christmas and I don't know who is more excited...my dad or Davis! Since we won't be in our house this year, Gramps' house is the next best thing. Tree lit and ready to go, train tracks set, and lights up on the house.
So far, Davis has been really good with the ornaments, and just goes around touching them with looks of amazement. I am so excited for this year since it will be his first Christmas he will some what know what is going on.

I Love The Holidays!!

We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving this year with my best friends, mom, and her new boyfriend. It seems so weird to think that just one year ago, Davis was in his little swing, sitting next to the table while we ate. This year he got to enjoy his first Thanksgiving meal with us. It was so funny to see him indulge in all of the goodness that we made. And of course he devoured everything! I think that boy ate more than I did! Of course, I have no pictures to show you, so you will just have to take my word that we had a blast. I took a ton, I mean a ton, of pictures but of course my camera is at home. (We are still in the hotel) I may be late getting them up, but I'm sure that I will post them at some point. Obviously there was a lot of stuffing our faces, good talk, playing games, and crying. Fine. I was doing the crying! That's what I get for giving too much thanks at Thanksgiving and thinking my world was coming to an end since I will be leaving my friend. I'm special as I will only be an hour and a half away. You would think I was moving to Egypt or something!

Yesterday, we had a wonderful family day filled with holiday fun. In McKinney, where we are moving, they have Christmas festivities called 'A Dickens of a Christmas.' People dress up, sing carols, eat...more! There are great shops and wonderful places to eat. We had such a fun time yesterday. It is so great now that Davis is getting bigger, we can do so much more fun things with him.
I took this pictures getting ready to head out the door! He's all dressed and ready to go! Family photo opp!
Look how HUGE his feet look in the picture! Davis looks a little confused. Probably wondering who in the world that lady is calling his name, while trying to take his picture!

There was also a carousel, and I have to say I was so excited to ride it with Davis for the first time. I had a massive mom moment while going around and thought I was going to tear up. But holding Davis on that horse while it went up and down was giving me such an arm work out, I let my mom moment pass!

Since we were in the area, I had to do a drive by at our new house and was beyond excited to see that the 'SOLD' sign was in the front yard. Did I take a picture? You bet I did!!

It's not quite finished yet, but we may actually be closing on the 22nd! What a way to start a new year fresh! I couldn't be more excited. And I would love to get out of this hotel room....we aren't cramped or anything :)
Hope your turkey day was amazing!!

And yes, when the pieces fell it was verrrry loud!

Pucker UP!

With the weather changing constantly, your kissable lips may not be so kissable. My lips are so chapped and feel awful right now, I thought I would share a few simple at home recipes for lip scrubs. Most of the ingredients you may already have at home. Exfoliant your skin? Why not exfoliant your lips! Get ready for that mistle toe, baby!!

A good lip scrub recipe exfoliates dead skin while adding moisture to your lips. Since the recipe is applied around your mouth, it's best to only use lip scrub ingredients that are safe for you to eat.

Basic Ingredients
The majority of homemade lip scrubs use granulated sugar to gently exfoliate. The soft edges on the sugar make it ideal for removing dead skin from fragile lips. It's also a convenient ingredient, since sugar is a basic household staple that almost everyone has handy. Do not try to use other types of sugar for a lip scrub recipe. Brown sugar tends to be too harsh and powdered sugar is too gentle to do any good.

Extra exfoliation ingredients for homemade lip scrub recipes often include citrus juice, baking soda or crushed aspirin in addition to, or in place of, sugar. To add a moisturizing effect, oils, honey, petroleum jelly or hydrating butters may also be included in the recipe. Remember not to mix baking soda with any citrus juice in your recipe, unless you want it to fizz.

Basic Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
To create a quick and easy sugar lip scrub recipe, mix together 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of white sugar in a small bowl. Use your finger or a clean toothbrush to apply the lip scrub to your lips. Use your finger or the toothbrush to gently rub the scrub in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Rinse the scrub away with warm water and pat your lips dry. Add a moisturizing lip balm if needed.

Grapefruit Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
Using grapefruit in a lip scrub adds flavor and extra exfoliating properties to the recipe. To create a grapefruit and sugar lip scrub recipe, mix together 2 teaspoons of grapefruit juice, 1 teaspoon of honey, 3 teaspoons of white sugar and 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a small bowl. Apply the recipe to your lips with your finger or a toothbrush and gently scrub in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Rinse with warm water, pat dry and apply lip balm as needed. Store scrub in air-tight container for up to seven days.

Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
To create a vanilla-flavored lip scrub recipe at a low cost, mix together 2 teaspoons of white sugar, 1 teaspoons of baking soda, 2 teaspoons of jojoba oil, 1 teaspoons of almond oil and 1/4 teaspoons of vanilla extract in a small bowl. Use a finger or toothbrush to apply the recipe and gently scrub in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Rinse your lips with warm water and pat dry. Store the scrub in a small, air-tight container for up to seven days.

Sensitive Skin Lip Scrub Recipe
If you have sensitive skin, sugar tends to be too harsh to use in a lip scrub recipe. Try a softer exfoliate, such as baking soda, instead. To create a lip scrub recipe for sensitive skin, mix together 1 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil in a small bowl. Apply the paste and scrub in a gentle circular motion for 6 seconds. Rinse with warm water and pat your lips dry.

Mama Needs Her Sippy Cup...Stat!

If you are just tuning in, we are in the process of moving back to Dallas. While I am so excited as this was our ulitmate goal, my God the transition is stressin. me. OUT!! Living out of a suitcase isn't my ideal situation. Crammed in a hotel room with tons of luggae, an 80 pound dog, a pack-n-play, and a 15 month old child, can be a tad bit overwhelming. Like, wanting to pull my hair out, overwhelming. We were leaving Dexter at home for a while, since he has a doggy door and plenty of food at home, but we could only do that for so long. The poor thing was all by himself. If we didn't have the dog, we would be able to stay at my dad's house, where Davis has his own room. But now since we have decided to bring him along, that's a no go. So needless to say, the tension is adding up.
However, it is really cute seeing Davis and Dexter together again. Davis is so in love with that dog, he cracks up everytime he sees him. Pulling on his tail, and sticking his fingers in his mouth, and Dexter just taking every bit of it. So sweet. But now every morning, Michael gets up to leave for work around 6:30, also walking the dog at this time. So, you know what that means. This wakes up Davis and he's up at 6:30 in the morning. Makes for an awesome morning!
Our house is finally up for sale, though. So crossing my fingers, toes, and eyeballs that it is sold quickly. We start looking for houses tomorrow here in the area and I am so excited and looking forward to it. We have found some amazing looking houses online, so I can't wait to scope them out.
Hoping the transtion goes a little more smoothly and quick...that is where my good friend Vino comes in to play.
Cross your fingers, everyone!!

Wordless Wednesday...Soo Little....

This is my flashback (so old, right!? haha) from when Davis was born. It was one of the first times he met his Aunt/Godmother Rebecca.

Look how itty, bitty my little guy was! This is such a sweet picture.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and amazing family!!

Have a great day!

I Want To Bottle It UP!!

As I see Davis growing day by day, I can't help but just want to make time stop. My heart melts with his little giggles, smiles, and his chunky cute hands wrapped around my finger. I love going to wake Davis up in the morning and him being so happy, jumping up and down in his crib. Reaching his little arms out to me, waiting for me to hold him. Oh so cuddly in the morning, just wanting to curl up in my lap. Sometimes wishing I was still feeding him a bottle, just so I could hold him that much longer. The sound of baby talk and jibberish filling the house, loving every babble, coo, shriek and shrill. Watching him learn to walk, stumbling and falling, and determined to get it right. Wishing I could cradle him in my arms like a little baby forever. Loving that he lets me wrap him in his towel after bathtime, and carry him around like an infant. Looking forward to reading books with him before bedtime. Snuggling with him in my bed while he "reads" to me. His excitment when he sees Dexter and always just wants to play with him, pulling and tugging on his tail. Davis' love for the outdoors, wanting to play outside all day. His cute little wave is beyond adorable. The way he blows kisses, but pretty much stuffs his hand in his mouth. Knowing he needs me right now, that he counts on me. That right now I am super mom and his hero.

The more and more I watch him grow, it saddens me and excites me all at the same time. Pure and innocent with no care in the world. I just wish I could bottle this up and keep it forever. My sweet little baby. I just love him to pieces.

Oklahoma..where the sun...

This past weekend was wonderful along with eventful! I traveled (alone, mind you!) to visit my sister in Oklahoma. We had the whole weekend to hang out and she also had a trunk show for me. Since I just love cleaning so, so much (hence sarcasm) I helped her straighten up before people arrived. But as soon as I saw this baby, I couldn't help myself.

Yes, my friend! That is a jumbo lint roller. So technically it's to be used on your couch for animal hair, but I couldn't resist.

If only I worked that hard at home! I must say, the amazing giant roller worked wonders in the floor. Think it will fit in my stocking for Christmas?!?
Now for the fun part! Setting up all of my goodies. I put everything in different little areas this time to make use of space. Isn't it all so cute?

Okay, well I loved it!! We had such a great time. And of course the beautiful hostess!!

Afterwards, we went for dinner and drinks. I have to say that the manager of one of the places bought our drinks ( without us talking to him, mind you) so we felt pretty special. I did anyway!! Not like that happens often, so I have to embrace the moment. Oh, Michael would be so proud.

And if you are like me and like Irish pubs, then this is wonderful!

Mostly a mans beer heaven, but hey! I like my beer, too!!

That's my weekend in review. Hope you have a wonderful week!!
