I Love The Holidays!!

We had the most wonderful Thanksgiving this year with my best friends, mom, and her new boyfriend. It seems so weird to think that just one year ago, Davis was in his little swing, sitting next to the table while we ate. This year he got to enjoy his first Thanksgiving meal with us. It was so funny to see him indulge in all of the goodness that we made. And of course he devoured everything! I think that boy ate more than I did! Of course, I have no pictures to show you, so you will just have to take my word that we had a blast. I took a ton, I mean a ton, of pictures but of course my camera is at home. (We are still in the hotel) I may be late getting them up, but I'm sure that I will post them at some point. Obviously there was a lot of stuffing our faces, good talk, playing games, and crying. Fine. I was doing the crying! That's what I get for giving too much thanks at Thanksgiving and thinking my world was coming to an end since I will be leaving my friend. I'm special as I will only be an hour and a half away. You would think I was moving to Egypt or something!

Yesterday, we had a wonderful family day filled with holiday fun. In McKinney, where we are moving, they have Christmas festivities called 'A Dickens of a Christmas.' People dress up, sing carols, eat...more! There are great shops and wonderful places to eat. We had such a fun time yesterday. It is so great now that Davis is getting bigger, we can do so much more fun things with him.
I took this pictures getting ready to head out the door! He's all dressed and ready to go! Family photo opp!
Look how HUGE his feet look in the picture! Davis looks a little confused. Probably wondering who in the world that lady is calling his name, while trying to take his picture!

There was also a carousel, and I have to say I was so excited to ride it with Davis for the first time. I had a massive mom moment while going around and thought I was going to tear up. But holding Davis on that horse while it went up and down was giving me such an arm work out, I let my mom moment pass!

Since we were in the area, I had to do a drive by at our new house and was beyond excited to see that the 'SOLD' sign was in the front yard. Did I take a picture? You bet I did!!

It's not quite finished yet, but we may actually be closing on the 22nd! What a way to start a new year fresh! I couldn't be more excited. And I would love to get out of this hotel room....we aren't cramped or anything :)
Hope your turkey day was amazing!!

Pucker UP!

With the weather changing constantly, your kissable lips may not be so kissable. My lips are so chapped and feel awful right now, I thought I would share a few simple at home recipes for lip scrubs. Most of the ingredients you may already have at home. Exfoliant your skin? Why not exfoliant your lips! Get ready for that mistle toe, baby!!

A good lip scrub recipe exfoliates dead skin while adding moisture to your lips. Since the recipe is applied around your mouth, it's best to only use lip scrub ingredients that are safe for you to eat.

Basic Ingredients
The majority of homemade lip scrubs use granulated sugar to gently exfoliate. The soft edges on the sugar make it ideal for removing dead skin from fragile lips. It's also a convenient ingredient, since sugar is a basic household staple that almost everyone has handy. Do not try to use other types of sugar for a lip scrub recipe. Brown sugar tends to be too harsh and powdered sugar is too gentle to do any good.

Extra exfoliation ingredients for homemade lip scrub recipes often include citrus juice, baking soda or crushed aspirin in addition to, or in place of, sugar. To add a moisturizing effect, oils, honey, petroleum jelly or hydrating butters may also be included in the recipe. Remember not to mix baking soda with any citrus juice in your recipe, unless you want it to fizz.

Basic Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
To create a quick and easy sugar lip scrub recipe, mix together 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of white sugar in a small bowl. Use your finger or a clean toothbrush to apply the lip scrub to your lips. Use your finger or the toothbrush to gently rub the scrub in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Rinse the scrub away with warm water and pat your lips dry. Add a moisturizing lip balm if needed.

Grapefruit Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
Using grapefruit in a lip scrub adds flavor and extra exfoliating properties to the recipe. To create a grapefruit and sugar lip scrub recipe, mix together 2 teaspoons of grapefruit juice, 1 teaspoon of honey, 3 teaspoons of white sugar and 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a small bowl. Apply the recipe to your lips with your finger or a toothbrush and gently scrub in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Rinse with warm water, pat dry and apply lip balm as needed. Store scrub in air-tight container for up to seven days.

Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
To create a vanilla-flavored lip scrub recipe at a low cost, mix together 2 teaspoons of white sugar, 1 teaspoons of baking soda, 2 teaspoons of jojoba oil, 1 teaspoons of almond oil and 1/4 teaspoons of vanilla extract in a small bowl. Use a finger or toothbrush to apply the recipe and gently scrub in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Rinse your lips with warm water and pat dry. Store the scrub in a small, air-tight container for up to seven days.

Sensitive Skin Lip Scrub Recipe
If you have sensitive skin, sugar tends to be too harsh to use in a lip scrub recipe. Try a softer exfoliate, such as baking soda, instead. To create a lip scrub recipe for sensitive skin, mix together 1 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil in a small bowl. Apply the paste and scrub in a gentle circular motion for 6 seconds. Rinse with warm water and pat your lips dry.

Mama Needs Her Sippy Cup...Stat!

If you are just tuning in, we are in the process of moving back to Dallas. While I am so excited as this was our ulitmate goal, my God the transition is stressin. me. OUT!! Living out of a suitcase isn't my ideal situation. Crammed in a hotel room with tons of luggae, an 80 pound dog, a pack-n-play, and a 15 month old child, can be a tad bit overwhelming. Like, wanting to pull my hair out, overwhelming. We were leaving Dexter at home for a while, since he has a doggy door and plenty of food at home, but we could only do that for so long. The poor thing was all by himself. If we didn't have the dog, we would be able to stay at my dad's house, where Davis has his own room. But now since we have decided to bring him along, that's a no go. So needless to say, the tension is adding up.
However, it is really cute seeing Davis and Dexter together again. Davis is so in love with that dog, he cracks up everytime he sees him. Pulling on his tail, and sticking his fingers in his mouth, and Dexter just taking every bit of it. So sweet. But now every morning, Michael gets up to leave for work around 6:30, also walking the dog at this time. So, you know what that means. This wakes up Davis and he's up at 6:30 in the morning. Makes for an awesome morning!
Our house is finally up for sale, though. So crossing my fingers, toes, and eyeballs that it is sold quickly. We start looking for houses tomorrow here in the area and I am so excited and looking forward to it. We have found some amazing looking houses online, so I can't wait to scope them out.
Hoping the transtion goes a little more smoothly and quick...that is where my good friend Vino comes in to play.
Cross your fingers, everyone!!

Wordless Wednesday...Soo Little....

This is my flashback (so old, right!? haha) from when Davis was born. It was one of the first times he met his Aunt/Godmother Rebecca.

Look how itty, bitty my little guy was! This is such a sweet picture.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and amazing family!!

Have a great day!

I Want To Bottle It UP!!

As I see Davis growing day by day, I can't help but just want to make time stop. My heart melts with his little giggles, smiles, and his chunky cute hands wrapped around my finger. I love going to wake Davis up in the morning and him being so happy, jumping up and down in his crib. Reaching his little arms out to me, waiting for me to hold him. Oh so cuddly in the morning, just wanting to curl up in my lap. Sometimes wishing I was still feeding him a bottle, just so I could hold him that much longer. The sound of baby talk and jibberish filling the house, loving every babble, coo, shriek and shrill. Watching him learn to walk, stumbling and falling, and determined to get it right. Wishing I could cradle him in my arms like a little baby forever. Loving that he lets me wrap him in his towel after bathtime, and carry him around like an infant. Looking forward to reading books with him before bedtime. Snuggling with him in my bed while he "reads" to me. His excitment when he sees Dexter and always just wants to play with him, pulling and tugging on his tail. Davis' love for the outdoors, wanting to play outside all day. His cute little wave is beyond adorable. The way he blows kisses, but pretty much stuffs his hand in his mouth. Knowing he needs me right now, that he counts on me. That right now I am super mom and his hero.

The more and more I watch him grow, it saddens me and excites me all at the same time. Pure and innocent with no care in the world. I just wish I could bottle this up and keep it forever. My sweet little baby. I just love him to pieces.

Oklahoma..where the sun...

This past weekend was wonderful along with eventful! I traveled (alone, mind you!) to visit my sister in Oklahoma. We had the whole weekend to hang out and she also had a trunk show for me. Since I just love cleaning so, so much (hence sarcasm) I helped her straighten up before people arrived. But as soon as I saw this baby, I couldn't help myself.

Yes, my friend! That is a jumbo lint roller. So technically it's to be used on your couch for animal hair, but I couldn't resist.

If only I worked that hard at home! I must say, the amazing giant roller worked wonders in the floor. Think it will fit in my stocking for Christmas?!?
Now for the fun part! Setting up all of my goodies. I put everything in different little areas this time to make use of space. Isn't it all so cute?

Okay, well I loved it!! We had such a great time. And of course the beautiful hostess!!

Afterwards, we went for dinner and drinks. I have to say that the manager of one of the places bought our drinks ( without us talking to him, mind you) so we felt pretty special. I did anyway!! Not like that happens often, so I have to embrace the moment. Oh, Michael would be so proud.

And if you are like me and like Irish pubs, then this is wonderful!

Mostly a mans beer heaven, but hey! I like my beer, too!!

That's my weekend in review. Hope you have a wonderful week!!

Muffin Top, Be GONE!!

With the holidays coming up, it's hard to focus on eating right. Right?!? People having parties and get togethers. Festivities every weekend with all kinds of goodies laid out, just waiting to be devoured! If I'm standing next to you talking, but there is a cheese tray in site, unfortunately, my focus is on the stupid cheese tray. Yes, it's my weakness. Cheese. Add a little vino in the mix and I'm having a party all by myself.
So I'm doing things a little backwards right now. My goal is to lose five pounds by Thanksgiving. I know it will probably end up right back in the same spot, but hey, less to try and get rid of. With Michael and I going back and forth lately, I can't even tell you the last time we actually had a home cooked meal. We are so good at staying at home and cooking, but not with staying either at my dad's or in a hotel. So needless to say, I am feeling rather sluggish. To top it off, I have not been able to make it to the gym daily like I usually do. So mix in nightly restaurants and no working out=major blah! Back in the saddle. Starting.......now! Since I am in Dallas so much, I have decided to get a temporary gym membership until we figure out where in the heck we are going to live. That way, I can work out in Tyler and in Dallas. If we eat out, salads for this mama! I can do this. I'll be like the little engine that could. I think I can, I think I can.
Why am I telling you this? Well, if I write out my goals and actually can read them, I am more likely to get them done. Telling you about my plan is more of a reason for me to get my muffin top in high gear and make this happen!
Shed these pounds and pack them right back on. At least I will feel better in the meantime working out again!

Happy eating, everyone! :)

Just an update: Davis doesn't have pneumonia, but a very bad ear infection! Whew!!!
Michael finally got a call about the big move! Finally!!! Maybe things will start rolling along :)

Alice In Wonderland Is A Hooker?

What ever happened to Halloween being for the kids? Cute little ones parading around in their adorable fairy, spiderman, and witch costumes? So excited as they run up to your door, wondering if you have better candy than your neighbors. Of course, there is an exception to this rule. You are a parent. By which this means you have earned your right of passage to live through your child and go trick or treating all over again. You dress up to match your childs costume, maybe. You feel like you're 5 and it feels good! Just waiting to put the kid to bed and rummage through the bag! Because we all know that your one year old is not eating that butterfinger bar, but by God, you are going to show off that cute costume that you bought months ago!

Which brings me to the high school kids dressed as tramps. Did your mother see you were leaving your house with absolutely no clothes on? It's precious when a five year old is wearing Alice in Wonderland, but if you are still squeezing yourself into the same costume at 16, then I think it's time to move on. How did sexy police officer become sexy Belle and Alice! So as these soon to be adults are making their way up the drive way, I am thinking, wow! Is this really happening? With their no mannered self and just taking the candy right out of the bowl, not saying a word. Oh dear Lord! What is happening! There goes the sweet innocence of Disney Movies! Much to my surprise, this little girl comes up shortly after and I have to say, she was a doll! She thanked us very much for her candy and handed over a 'thank you stick.' Her mom and her painted popsicle sticks to look like candy corn and wrote thank you on them. I thought this had to be the sweetest thing ever! Talk about manners! Blew me away!!

We, however, did not get to take Davis on his first trick or treating experience last night and of course I'm bummed. His fever shot really high again yesterday, so we decided we had better take him into the doctor and see what in the world is going on. Pneumonia! Yes, that's right. Pneumonia! How in the world? I have no idea. My poor little guy is so sick and it makes me just want to cry for him. So instead, he sat in my lap on the front porch and helped me hand out candy to everyone. He is such a trooper and seems to be hanging in there pretty good. I am just crossing my fingers that he gets better soon!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!
