With the weather changing constantly, your kissable lips may not be so kissable. My lips are so chapped and feel awful right now, I thought I would share a few simple at home recipes for lip scrubs. Most of the ingredients you may already have at home. Exfoliant your skin? Why not exfoliant your lips! Get ready for that mistle toe, baby!!
A good lip scrub recipe exfoliates dead skin while adding moisture to your lips. Since the recipe is applied around your mouth, it's best to only use lip scrub ingredients that are safe for you to eat.
Basic Ingredients
The majority of homemade lip scrubs use granulated sugar to gently exfoliate. The soft edges on the sugar make it ideal for removing dead skin from fragile lips. It's also a convenient ingredient, since sugar is a basic household staple that almost everyone has handy. Do not try to use other types of sugar for a lip scrub recipe. Brown sugar tends to be too harsh and powdered sugar is too gentle to do any good.
Extra exfoliation ingredients for homemade lip scrub recipes often include citrus juice, baking soda or crushed aspirin in addition to, or in place of, sugar. To add a moisturizing effect, oils, honey, petroleum jelly or hydrating butters may also be included in the recipe. Remember not to mix baking soda with any citrus juice in your recipe, unless you want it to fizz.

Rinse the scrub away with warm water and pat your lips dry. Add a moisturizing lip balm if needed.
Grapefruit Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
Using grapefruit in a lip scrub adds flavor and extra exfoliating properties to the recipe. Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

Sensitive Skin Lip Scrub Recipe
If you have sensitive skin, sugar tends to be too harsh to use in a lip scrub recipe. Try a softer exfoliate, such as baking soda, instead. To create a lip scrub recipe for sensitive skin, mix together 1 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil in a small bowl. Apply the paste and scrub in a gentle circular motion for 6 seconds. Rinse with warm water and pat your lips dry.
