Bringing Them Into Your Life....

Some of the best advice given to me....by a fellow blogger, actually....when I was pregnant was really simple when you think about it. And of course now that I want to remember it, I can't think of her exact words. Go figure. It was something to this effect, though. "You are welcoming your son into YOUR life, and YOUR world. Your life doesn't revolve around him, he is a part of yours." I really liked that so much, and still try to remember that.
When Davis first came home, it seemed almost easier at the time to take him out and go do things. (How was this possible? Hmmm...) We were able to still go have wine with friends and listen to music, take him to dinners with us, and still feel like we were ourselves. Davis was still really little and has always LOVES music. He would still wake up when he knew it was time to eat and would just watch his surroundings. I think as time has gone on, it has been me that has been afraid to take him out around his nap time, sleep times, etc. He is dead on his schedule and wants to go to bed right on the dot! No lie, it's awesome and nerve wrecking all at the same time. But his schedule is amazing and we are sticking to it. I also sometimes think that if we take him out around his sleep time, it will throw him off and he'll be up all night long. For the most part, it doesn't really faze him too terribly much.
Needless to say, after all of my rambling today, we had a nice family dinner the other night with no worries. I mean, I actually forgot the child was with us, he was that quiet! (Most of the time) He did get a little fussy around feeding time and I just think Davis has an internal clock inside him and he can tell time. It was actually refreshing to me to know that that part of us isn't missing. That we were able to have a family dinner in public with no worries. Of course, I was a little nervous about it because it has been a while, but I need to remember the advice given. And I also can't let Davis run my life. So now we will be venturing out for dinner every night. Haha.. I'm just kidding. I don't live that far in fantasy land!

That is really good advice...but the hardest to follow. I am still learning that after my 3rd, sometimes its easier just have them rule your world than the other way around.
I love when you can go out with your little ones and everything goes just perfect...its rare and awesome!

I can totally relate with you. I am a wreck when there is something I have to do around Lauryn's bed time. I would almost rather miss out, than to take her. But the fews times I have decided to take her things turn out okay. So glad you all were able to have a family dinner. I am sure that was nice.

Happy Easter!

I like this advice. I have stuck stubbornly to Emma's napping schedule and so far, it's worked. I am too afraid to do anything during that time.

I do need to learn that she does not rule my world, but is part of it, and she makes it great!!
